Twent-one of 35 sites reported this week. European corn borer (ECB)-E was caught at 6 sites and ECB-Z was caught at four of the reporting sites. Twelve sites reported CEW catches this with 9 sites high enough to be on a 4, 5, or 6 day spray schedule (see table at bottom of post). Fall armyworm (FAW) was caught at one site and no Western bean cutworm (WBC) were reported this week.
Scout your sweet corn for any signs of eggs, larvae or damage. The threshold for ECB, CEW and FAW is 15% infested plants at tassel emergence. To help you scout your fields please view the video titled How to Scout Fresh Market Sweet Corn. This video will show you how and when to scout sweet corn using the Sweet corn scouting form (pdf).
