European corn borer (ECB) catches remain low this week. Corn earworm (CEW) numbers are variable again this week, ranging from 0 to 47, and are being caught at over half the locations reporting this week. Numbers are high to our south and southeast, so our numbers could pick up quickly if a storm front comes through. Fall armyworm (FAW) numbers remain low and spotty, and western bean cutworm numbers continue to drop off.
Where CEW are being caught in high enough numbers to determine the spray schedule (see the chart below), those applications will be sufficient to take care of other worm pests that are present. Where CEW are not determining the spray schedule, scout to be sure other pests are not above threshold. Click on the scouting and thresholds information link to the right for more information.
