European corn borer numbers remain low this week with ECB-E caught at only one location and ECB-Z caught at three locations. Corn earworm (CEW) saw its highest catch of the season this week with 9 locations reporting trap catches. Numbers of CEW are high enough at 8 locations to recommend a 4-6 day spray interval. With so few sweet corn fields remaining, moths may lay eggs even in brown silk stage fields, as well as peppers and tomatoes. Five locations reported fall armyworm (FAW), with counts high at two of the locations (Interlaken and Waterport). The FAW at these two locations should be controlled by the recommended spray interval for the CEW. Western bean cutworm (WBC) was caught at only one location this week, Avoca.
